Coaching for a Healthier, Happier Life

Posted on 30 September 2008

I have a lot of followers of my blog according to the statistic reports but I don’t get too many comments. That is not a bad thing. I am hoping that people are getting some good information that has helped them. A few have commented that they are using some of my tips which is definetly good.

There is a poll on my blog that I would like everyone to consider taking. It is very simple. Would you like to receive a monthly newsletter to coach you to a healthy lifestyle?

My idea is to have an exercise routine that you would perform 3 to 5 times a week for the entire month.

Tempo Monday

Posted on 30 September 2008

In my never ending quest to mix things up a little (well, actually because I got lazy on Sunday), I opted to do a tempo run yesterday. I wanted to do 60 minutes, but I got a late start (after 6PM). I scaled it down to 45 minutes. The plan was 10 min warm up, 25 min tempo, 10 min warm down. I started at the NAC, which makes the opening 10 minutes tough. Either way I go I have a hill to climb. I decided finally to go north.

Product Review: Laughing Cow Light Original Swiss cheese spread

Today, I finally tried the Laughing Cow Light Original Swiss cheese spread. I read about this on the Hungry Girl site (they even have a fettucine alfredo recipe that uses it), and wanted to try it. I’ve had this sitting around for a while now, and my fiance had eaten a few wedges and said they were ok, but I never got around to it. So, I opened a wedge today, and I was pleasantly surprised. I can see this being a fun snack, maybe even spread on some veggies.

June? Really?

Posted on 29 September 2008

Wow.. I’ve broken a new record in slackerdom… I haven’t posted since June. and it’s almost October. Man, I suck. Sorry to anyone who’s still out there… I just got back from a week of being completely horrible, and I mean, where I couldn’t possibly be any worse.. a cruise. So, today is my newest restart. And I know I HAVE to get down to business.

I decided to face the music today and get my ass on the scale (and this was difficult, especially after I finished off my gluttony with 3 chocolate chip cookies last night).

Missed a day!

Posted on 29 September 2008

Boo hoo! Unscheduled rest day! Not that I had any nagging injuries, or burn out or anything. Just kind of a lazy Sunday. By the time I had finished everything else, it was getting close to 6:30. These days it is dark by 7 PM. I figured one missed tempo day is not going to hurt me at this point. So I settled in for another episode of House and wrote Sunday off.

Today is normally an easy day to use as recovery from the weekend’s long run and tempo/fartlek workout.

Herbal Breast Enhancement

Posted on 29 September 2008

Writen by Eric Morris

Herbal breast enhancement techniques are becoming widely popular with women who seek alternatives to surgery. Surgery is suspected to bring about anatomical disorders in the body. This fear has caused many herbal products to be introduced in the market. These herbal foods are claimed to act on the breasts either directly or after metabolism.

The most popular herbal ingredient is saw palmetto, which is also chiefly used to treat benign prostrate in men. Another is fennel seed, which bring up the estrogen count in women. Fenugreek and wild yam are also supposed to bring about breast enhancement.

Curb Hunger and Avoid The Costly Binge

Everyone’s been there - you miss a meal or you are getting used to a lower calorie phase of your nutrition plan when the munchies hit. You grab the nearest and quickest food available - usually a high carb snack food - and you chow down. And to add insult to injury you find yourself hungry again just as quickly as someone who didn’t snack!

The best thing you can do to avoid this is to plan ahead and always have a meal ready to go quickly.

Writen by Max Bellamy

Hypoxic brain injury or cerebral hypoxia is a condition that refers to a severe decrease of oxygen supplied to the brain, even though there is sufficient blood flow. This condition may be caused by a blockage in the respiratory tract or airways brought about by strangling, suffocation or choking, conditions such as head trauma, cardiac arrest, carbon monoxide poisoning and complications from surgery. In mild cases, cerebral hypoxia can lead to memory loss or temporary amnesia, poor judgment, impaired motor coordination and inattentiveness or carelessness.

It is very important for the brain to have adequate supply of oxygen.

Alternative Therapies For Acid Reflux Disease

Posted on 28 September 2008

Writen by Carl Spanier

Acid Reflux Disease, or GERD, is a common disease which affects approximately 5-7% of the population. It occurs when acid from the stomach backs up into the esophagus, a long, thin, muscular tube, which connects the mouth and the stomach. This often causes a constant burning sensation behind the breastbone, which is commonly known as heartburn. Long-term or persistent heartburn should be evaluated by a doctor, as heartburn can imitate the symptoms of heart disease.

Once you have been properly diagnosed as having Acid Reflux Disease, there are a variety of treatment options available to you.
